Am I eligible for First Cover?
Before applying for your complimentary cover, we need to make sure you’re eligible. Please make sure you read the following carefully and that you meet all the eligibility criteria below. Please note if you’re eligible for Mercedes‑Benz NELS First Cover, this needs to be put in place to start on the day you take delivery of your car. You should not take out First Cover for your new Mercedes‑Benz if you already have alternative cover in place.
Drivers
- Age: 19-85 (A-Class AMG models: minimum driver age of 27 years old; other AMG models: minimum driver age of 30 years old), subject to underwriting criteria
- No driver has had insurance cancelled or refused by an insurer
- No driver has been previously banned from driving
- All drivers are UK residents and hold a full/provisional UK or full EU licence
- Policy must be taken out in an individuals name (not a company/business)
Claims and convictions
No driver may have:
- Serious recent motor convictions
- More than three motoring convictions in the last five years
- More than three at-fault claims in the last five years
Vehicle
- Maximum vehicle value: £200,000
Ownership
- You or your spouse, partner or civil partner (not business partner) will be the main driver
- The vehicle must be kept at your home address
Vehicle use
- Social, Domestic and Pleasure (SDP)
- Social, Domestic, Pleasure and Commuting (SDP&C)
- SDP&C including Business Use (Class 1)
- Your vehicle is not used for Hire & Reward

Activate First Cover
You should activate your cover before getting your new Mercedes‑Benz to be started on the day of collection. You’ll receive a quote for Mercedes‑Benz NELS Motor Insurance before your First Cover documents are sent to Fleet Support Services. This means you'll have everything ready when it comes to collecting your new Mercedes‑Benz.
